ronze Aeporter ~A Reflection Of Negro Thought~ Flint, Michigan, Saturday, April 24, 1954 Si | [5c Per Copy AC Choral Group Participated in the Easter Caakers Miss Roberta Peters Thrills Of 7,000 At AC Easter Conce By John Gibson, Jr. SRO was the result of the response of one of the largest, ergwds to witness an AC Easter Concert at the IMA. Auditorium! which was given under the -pices of the Musical. Groups, Spirk Plug Division Mators. % The theme of Easter was apparent as the eager crowd awaited| the opening cue. The stage aus~ | AC} was impressive. Floral artistry wes rendered by the Arcade Florist. Lilies arid greens were laid from, one side across the front to the other side, creating inia subtle manner, the mood for the Easter song fest. The murmuring audience. was still as the. auditorium was Corkened and the picture of the front of a stone church was thrown on full. curtains. The three choral groups made their entree by coming up the center. and the two aisles converging midway as they ~sang, ~~Christ| The. ~Lord is ~ os { ~. Risen Today~. The 130 singers carried. lighted ~~ valaiiles~ as the singing procession made its way) ta the stage and was seated behind the band. | The eoncert band and a. choral groups rendered individual seIe~ctions that were pleasing to the ear. Their renditions reflected training, talent, and enthusiasm for their respective roles in the concert. i Mis8~Peters made her graceful appearance after. the concert ~hand played Tchaikévsky~s enm Overture ~1812~, It was not surprising nox difficult to understand how this lovely coloratura sensation captured the heerts of music lovers at the Metropolitan Opera House. She sang ~Baiti, Batti~ from Mozart~s ~~Don> Giovanni~~ and the ~Bell Song~ from ~Lakne~. The audience was delighted as she returned for an encore with ~Will You Remember?~ (Romberg).
