People attend classes of one kind ot } another for varSome, to take a favorite ~subject, others to get ahead in certain fields of endeavor, Still others: will attend classes just to be among people they like and enjoy being around. _: | - Among the many thousands of leotle who will attend ore always finds those who love to ledrn simply for the love of learning. | The: Mott Foundation classes have definitely proven that you can teach an ~Old Dog~ new tricks, and that. many * ~Old Dogs~ learn new tricks faster, and retain them longer than many ~younger dogs.~ Ub order to allay any suspicions some might bisa con cerning this editorial, the BRONZE REPORTER is not trying to laud any particular person to the skies on ~flow ery beds of ease."~ People who are connected with the Mott Foundation ~Community College deserve praise for ~their untiring efforts, but they are not seeking praise in jtself. They do not need it because they are more inter ested, and anxious to provide the educational and social experiences to those who will derive some direct, or indirect good from the 65 classes being offered. The quality of the Mott Foundation program speaks for itself. Our praise (which we are not offering anyway) ~makes no difference one way or another.. ~However, the BRONZE REPORTER ~Staff is: con | Lemted| about those of you who are willing to. devote a | few hours a ates to bettering ypurerlf The door to LAFF OF THE WEEK ~No rest tor the wicked... And where does one find that key? Well, the Mott Foundation has classes in every subject that you want or need to do whatever you want to. do. Classes will be held in Parkland, Emerson, Northern and Central High School. This is a partial list of the centers for classes. | | You are invited to attend any class that you want in any school | or center in the city. They are ~open to all people. Flint was built by men who had vision and foresight. It is being kept i in the industrial forefront by. men such as C. S. Mott and Harlow Curtice.' Job opportunities are going to be~ available for many different types of men, with many different types of experiences. The decision ta be one of these types of men rests solely on the kind of training you are preparing yourself for now, not yesterday, neither tomorrow. As a race we have got to get ready to; Relea the future with more of our young people receiving training to be sxecutives and clerks and draftsmen, merchants and accountants. The industrial expansion mentioned by Mr. Curtice has all the possibilities of presenting opportuni~ies to many Negroes. cept them, and well prepared to do so.: A full program of classes will be published soon. Flint, All-American City On January 31, 7,800 people who volunteered to assist in Operation Tornado, will be awarded a small citation for their combined efforts to rebuild the homes of the Tornado victims. But these pisuls will not be thinking. abdut ihe citation that they will receive, they will be thinking of the wreckage they witnessed on that fateful day. It was definitely a public service that you performed when you called to the atten tion of FLINT how our people are being employed in respectable jobs. However you did miss many others who are a credit to. our race. I bought one of the papers for the only reason to see where I could ~find! a room. I want to know feel I wasn~t wanted. To my disgust there wasnt anything, in your little paper to help me- So I had to ask people who were in a hurry and didn~t have too much time for me. You won~t print this maybe, but it is a shame that you don~t have such news~ in your paper for us strangers: A disappointed stranger Ed. I happened to remark that I noticed he was an advertiser in. the REPORTER, and told him how much I could appreciaté his.support of the paper. Honestly, I wish you: ed proudly and took the time ~to tell me and several others how much he has enjoyed the paper. He said that the Colored people in Flint should be proud of The BRONZE REPORTER and support it to the man. He said that White people find the paper very informing and interesting. It would be a good thing if more of us would take the time, to let your. advertisers know that.~ the community appreciates their support of The BRONZE REPORTER.
