Training Center For Military ~Police Planned Classes to Be Opened atFt ~./ Training Center will be established at Fort Riley, Kansas, about April 8, the War Department announced Saturday. Many Negro soldiers are to be given this training, it was stated. The organization will consist of a training center headquarters and ra training battalions. under. offi| cers who will be selected from military~ police units in Corps Area Service Commands; from the Provost Marshal General~s School, at Fort Myer, Virginia. from. combat units; and field officers whom the Provost Marshal General will designate. The center will accommodate 1,880 trainees from all sections of the United States. They will be selected for their appearance and maturity of judgement and~ after completion of training will be assigned to military police units for + (1) Combat Divisions, Corps and Armies; (2) Posts, camps and stations (Corps Area Service Commands); (3) protection to vita] defense installations in the Zone of the Interior; and (4) guarding prisoners of war. Down below, hundreds of anxious eyes watched the two tiny figures struggling for their lives: Every possible chance to rescue the boys had been made, by firemen, melice and volunteers. Their hope was, if the boys could get to the edge so they could jump.
