There are those _ Who oppose every move anxious, well meaning citizens attempt to do here for mass benefit. How stupid! How ignorant!. How selfish! There is nothing progressive in that sort of people. They comment that a camp built for use by the Colored children will be segragation You have a Clifford street center and a St. John St. Center. Are they not segregated centers? Your churches are not operated by white people. Your lodges are not. Your.present camping _ privileges ~are not attended by white children. White people condescend to allow your children a brief stay in their camps for a price. Your time is limited. The I. M.-A. Park at Potters Lake is let to you only about ten hours per year. White people do not attend your outings there. Would it be worst if you owned a camp of your own, making? Would it not give you initiative and self reliance and manly appreciation to be able to create something that will bring credit to your citizenship in this community? Maybe you. just swear against pro gressive moves only because you. have. a pet project which decided limitations; confining it to your own selfish: and. meagre ability to carry on. Most of you kickers are simply small minded Goons. Mich.~The following resolution and demand coming from the authorities of the CIO, is reprinted to show how the Flint Citizens~ Mass meeting had effect. The following resolution had been held in the files of the offices of. the locals here until this week, altho they have had it for some time We are happy to present the following; and want to remind you that that meeting Sunday afternoon;? March 8th, will long be remembered. Several resolutions were adopted. Among them were the following. An F. E. P. C.. committee to be established in Flint, the other was the correcting of the Sojourner Truth: Housing controversy in Detroit. Altho this was a racial meeting, our duty Mette il the National ~Nazi Convicted: Failed to Let, FBI Know When He Changed Address convicted by a jury in the United States District Court of violating the alien registration act of 1940 In. the first prosecution under the act here Jordan was found guilty of failing to notify the Commissioner of Immigration, and Naturalization of three specific occasions of a change of address. He will. be sentenced by Judge Edward A. Conger and faces a maximum term of ninety days and $300 fine. Jordan, known to many Negroes as the ~Harlem Nazi~ preaching to his followers a ~new order~ patterned on economic security to be found in an African empire, admit- | ted on the witness stand at the brief trial that he had violated the régistration rules. He registered under the act at 272 Manhattan Avenue. Last July 5th, he moved to 28 West 120th St. On August 25, he moved to 5) Mt. Morris Park and on Dec. 8, he moved again, this time to 63 West 119th Street. ~ Agents of the Federal Bureau of Investigation, as well:as the city police, were observing his actions during this period and were attending Sunday night meetings of his league at 113 Lenox Avenue. On Feb. 17, the FBI arrested, him. He |. was sent first to Ellis Island and then to the Federal House of Detention, 427 West Street, where, unable to raise $500 bail, he remained until March 9. He is- in his cell now. os In his speeches at Ethiopian- | Pacific League meetings, as ~well as on street corners, Jordan has mad~ no bones about his liking for Hitler. Mackley, merchant - farmer of Blodgett, Mo.. in the presence of ahout 50 spectators, the report stated, ~We, the grand jury, find insufficient evidence to <veturn a true bill in the matter of mob -activity at Sikeston; ~January 28, ~1942. OFFICERS COMPLIMENTED ~We desire to compliment the state highway patrol and county officials for theit work in cornection with mob action.~ Judge McDowell. accepted the report. without comment, and Gov. Foirest C. Donnell refused to comment on the action of the jury until he conferred with Assi, Atty. General Harry Kay, who aided in the inquiry. Negro farmers and their part in the wer effort. One of their special functions will be to help insure the integration and full participation of Negro farmers in: the food-for-freedom campaign. FIRST IN HISTORY ~ The appointments of Mr. Barnett and Doctor Patterson mark the first time that members of ~the race have been named assistants to the Secretary of Agriculture. In. setting this precedent, Secretary Wick ard makes Agriculture the third Executive Branch of the Government.to place dees Americans in dates back snveral: ~years and stems, I. feel, from a genuine -desire to help improve conditions on the farm for thousands of your people. In the position which I/am asking you to accept, you will, I believe, be able to. make a fine contribution to the general welfare of Negro farmers. And in your current war effort your work of help~ing to promote the full participation of Negro farmers in the foodfor-freedom campaign will mean for them a better diet and better health. ~Now, a8 always, I feel that Negroes, both on the farm and in our cities and towns are ready to do their full share. I have no doubts of their loyalty and devotion. But, like all our people, their energies must be implemented and directed so that they may do the things which count most toward final victory. You can help lend that direction, as well as aid/ my office in devising ways and means of giving Negro farmers the|most adequate assistance in their drive to produce food for a wartime econ~omy. Lehr announced that evidence of a reported conspiracy to deprive citizens of their constitutional rights in the housing project was) being laid before a federal grand jury at the request of U: S.
