Department of Agriculture~s campaign to have more home, comnmunity, and school gardens. in 1942 than this fair land has ever seen before. The reason for this upsurge of interest in gardening are several fold. First of all an intensive gardening campaign must be. formated to provide a diet that will bring the highest degree of health and efficiency among = all groups and all classes of people.. Second, an abundant supply of fresh, home raised vegetables will do much t6 help meet the problem of rising~ living costs. You have. no notion how much it helps. to be able to provide even a part of the family~s food supply. And when you raise enough vegetables to eat and 3 surplus for canning you are really going places. | Third, by growing a garden chock tull of edibles, you release more of the commniercial stocks of food for the armed forces and for LeaseLend shipments to the. Allied Nations. Every tiny little particle of food is impodrtant..right now. Those people who have available, suitable land for gardens will be doing a patriotic duty to put that plot of earth to work.
