Beck. ACCIDENTALLY SCALDED Mrs. Emma James is in Hurley Hospital from the results of spilling hot scalding water over her legs and feet. Her condition was ~reported fair. VECOVERING Mrs. Gerthia Green is recovering at her home 110 E. Wellington after having her tonsilg removed. RECOVERING FROM A RECENT APPENDECTOMY Mr. Emmett Verdun is getting along nicely after recently having his appendix removed. VISITING Mrs. Valetta Braswell of Greenville, Mississippi, is here visiting her aunt, Mrs. Clark, on Darthmouth Street. GIVING FLOWERS NOW This was carried out in its, fullest Friday night by the Senior Choir of the Mt. Olive Baptist Church when the congregation along with their friends joined in giving to Miss Dorothy Rhea Greene a full house for her recital. Miss Greene did herself proud for she sang. as she had never sung before. We are~ of the opinion that her voice gets better daily. Mrs. Verna Mae Shook was her accompanist and she showed to Flint that her talent was right at the piano. The two young ladies were beautifully gowned in black velvet and black. chiffon with silver and gold accessories. Mrs. T. I. Wheeler, "president of the choir, is wearing a big smile at the success of the affair for she Says ~whenever she prays for a thing she gets it.~ The choir wishes more power to Miss Greene. MRS. The attendance was large and enthusiasm ran high as the women took advantage of the instruction given them by the two Nurses. A white registered nurse was assisted by Mrs. Jackson, one ~of our own. Mrs. Broadway instructor. The Gay Sixteen Club: The Gay Sixteen Club will hold its regular meeting at the St. John Street Center every Friday evening 7:30. to 9. The girls have made plans to spread Christmas cheer. Miss Margaret Lee is the president and Mrs. O. Broadway supervisor. The Pre-School Group at the St. John St. Center opened Wednesday, October 15th with an attendance of thirty tots. This school is opened every Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Fridays from 1 to 3 of devotions, singing games, storyp- m. Their daily schedule consist: telling, cut -outs and drawing. We would like for every parent. to get his little tots to school. The school is under the leadership of Mrs. Mazella. Ennis assisted by Misses Rachel, and Vivian Wright, Viola Miller and Myrtle Duckette. MUSIC~Classes. are held every Tuesday, Thursday and Fridays at the center from 4 to 5:30 p, m. Any girl or boy who would like to take music see Mrs. Mazella Ennis. CLIFFORD ST. CENTER The girls clubs under the leadership of Mrs. Dorothy Verdun, Mrs. Ethelyn Reid and Miss Beulah McGee are meeting regularly and doing nicely. The Danty Maids gave a little ~Farewell~~ for little Miss Billie Jean Ball, who went away to school. The pre-school groups is so largely attended more chairs are needed for these little people. The. Community Aidettes have adopted this group and each week as they did before the summer vacation, they supply cookies and this term many other things as construction paper, drawing paper, paste, crayon, etc., for the children. We do. hope when this group comes to you for help that you won~t turn them down for they are doing a good work. Mrs. Ethelyn Reid is in charge of the School assisted by Miss Dorothy Greene, Emma Ray Burks and Norma Tarver. The girls Glee Club will meet Friday afternoon at 4 o~clock. This group is opened to all girls who| would like to join. Each member has been asked to bring a new girl that a group of 25 be attained. Mrs. Warren and Mrs. McPherson are daughter and granddaughter of the deceased pioneer. ~ Mrs. Francis, well known throughout ~Bolivar County, and among Memphis merchants with whom she did considerable~ business following the death of her husband, B.
