A complaint has been drawn and if the board refuses to equalize the salaries, a case will be filed in the United States District Court of New Orleans on June il. There is a reported differential of $275,000 a year in the salaries of white teachers over those of Negroes in New Orleans schools, Arrangements were made for the democratic order. We have a responsibility for working actively to ~improve it. Certainly one way of improving it is to assure its continu-.ance long enough to effect such improvement. ~ Granger pointed out that Britain~s defeat may not bring actual military invasion to. this country, but it would certainly assure the dominance of Hitler~s ideas. as expressed at present in such scattered groups as the Klan, the ~Silver Shirts, the Christian Front, the Bund and similar ~hate~ groups.
