Excelsior Dramatic Players Star In~~Stand Up And Live~ ~ FLINT, Michigan~(W N S)~ Th, Excelsior Dramatic Players thrilled. a capacity audience Sunday. at the YWCA with their rendition of ~Stand Up and Live.~ The play was a fast:moving reproduction of Negro History, _beginning in the days of slavery anda teuching the high lights of that gruesome period so full of: human misery and ill-treatment and culminating in the triumph. of freedem bringing encouragement, opportunity and accomplishment.~ Those individuals among the abolitionists who earned the admiration and esteem of the gaod folks of the world, namely: Fredrick. Douglass, William Lloyd Garrison Wilmot, Harriet Beecher Stowe, Seward and Abraham: Lincoln were vividly characterized. CREDIT TO EVERYONE FLINT, Michigan~ The pageant, ~Stand Up and Live~ given Sunday afternoon by the Excelsior Dramatic Players with the cooperation of the Negru Forum of the YWCA, was an unusual success and a credit to the director, cast and everyone connected with it. The smoothness of production as well as the splendid portrayal of characters was outstanding. But even more inypressive than the artistic development was the theme itself, which gave an excellent idea of Negro history. The ~progress made in spite of difficulties encountered left one with a feeling of inspiration and ~ challenge~a challenge which. all people colored and white, who are interested in b a. better in two days. The Excelsior Players proved themselves to-be exceptional performers, giving much sincerity andhonest effort to their individual parts.
