Myers because the central figure ~Justice~ appears to be that of a mulatto woman.~ After several weeks in the court room with the covered mural, Judge Myers informed the Treasury Department that he wanted the: painting entirely removed. The National Association for the Advancement of Colored People protested to the Department of Justice over the action of Judge Myers, but T, D, Quinn, administrative assistant under Attorney General Murphy,, said the matter was up to Judge Myers to decide. The NAACP thereupon dispatehed a protest to Secretary of the Treasury Morgenthau. The. mural was painted by Stefan Hirsch.
