William W. Cook Lectures on American Institutions 1941-1993 [subseries]

The William W. Cook Lectures on American Institutions [1996 Accession] (1.0 linear feet, 1941-1993) document the lecture series named in honor of alumnus William W. Cook (A.B. 1880; LL.B., 1882). A committee was authorized by the Regents in July 1942 to comply with Cook's will which provided an endowment to pay for lectures on American institutions and their preservation, and for the publication of the lectures. Lecturers receive an honorarium and are expected to deliver three to five public lectures resulting in a manuscript suitable for publication. The material in this series contains committee records, 1941-1975, including information on the Cook bequest, and files on Cook lecturers arranged chronologically.
