Access and Use

Acquisition Information:

The collection was donated by John and Leni Sinclair (donor no. 6306) in 1979. A second large accession was received in 2000. Periodic and smaller accessions were received between 1979 and 2000.

Access Restrictions:

The collection is open for research.

The collection contains audio tapes from which digital copies have been made. Source tapes are for staff use only. Audio files are only available in the Bentley Historical Library reading room on designated Bentley Library computers.

To protect fragile audiovisual recordings (such as audio cassettes, film reels, and VHS tapes), the Bentley Historical Library has a policy of converting them to digital formats by a professional vendor whenever a researcher requests access. Donors retain copyright to articles, poetry, and unpublished materials. Researchers may make limited quotations in accordance with the "fair use" provisions of the copyright law. Copyright to the performances of the 1973 Ann Arbor Jazz and Blues Festival has not been transferred to the Regents of the University of Michigan. Patrons are responsible for determining the appropriate use or reuse of materials.
