Ann Arbor, Michigan, Social Worker, Jane Lockwood Barney, worked for decades in organizations related to aiding the elderly, minorities, homeless, and hungry. Her primary organizations were: Avalon Housing, Inc., Shelter Association of Washtenaw County, St. Andrew's Episcopal Church, Washtenaw Housing Alliance, Turner African American Services Council, and the New Hope / University of Michigan Geriatric Clinic (now called the New Hope Outreach Clinic). The collection encompasses material related to Jane Barney's activities after the passing of her husband, Roger Warren Barney, in 1978.
