Abbreviations for editions of papyri and ostraca should conform to those proposed by J. Oates, R. Bagnall and W. Willis in their "Checklist of Editions of Greek Papyri and Ostraca," BASP 11 No. 1 (1974). The volume number of the edition should be included: e.g. P.Oxy. XLI 2943.1-3; 2968.5; P.Mich. IX 526.3-4; P.Lond. I 293 (p. 187) 9-10. 2. Other abbreviations should conform to the usage set down in the American Journal of Archaeology 74 (1970) 1-8. 3. For ancient and Byzantine authors, contributors should consult the Oxford Classical Dictionary (Oxford 1970) ix-xix, and A Patristic Greek Lexicon, ed. G. W. H. Lampe (Oxford 1961) xi-xlv. 4. When reading proof, contributors should limit themselves to correcting typographical errors. Revisions and additions should be avoided; if absolutely necessary, they will be made at the author's expense.
