Acquisition: Askren-Boak collection, 1925
Content: (Prof. Claudio Gallazzi's communication to N. Litinas) Fake sandal made from mummy cloth and papyrus, made in late 19th century, parallel to many such "artifacts" made at this time and sold to the European institutions. The letters (?) ink that we can see on the external leaf are just a fake. The same appears in a "mummy", published by Cl. Gallazzi in ZPE 112 (1996), pp. 183-188. A roll (Iliad) was torn in three pieces and some were sold to London, some to Paris and some to Italy. The one in Italy was made as a mummy!
