Translation
The seventh year of Tiberius Claudius Caesar Augustus Germanicus the Emperor, the 4th of the month Neos Sebastos, in Karanis in the Herakleides division of the Arsinoite nome. Horion, son of Papontos, about fifty years old, with a scar on the little finger of his left hand, has leased to Tithoes, son of Nepheros, a Persian of the epigone, about sixty years old, with a scar in the middle of his forehead, the aroura and one-half and one-eighth, or as many as may be, that he himself is cultivating near Karanis, part of the estate of Livia, which is tax-exempted, for the seventh year of Tiberius Claudius Caesar Augustus Germanicus the Emperor for planting with vegetable seed. All the resulting produce and . . . [are to be brought] to the threshing floor, from which two shares will belong to Horion and one share to Tithoes. All the transportation charges to the threshing floor [shall be charged to Horion], the [work] of cultivation [to Tithoes] . . .
