Translation
(Recto)
. . . and as it happens I was once forced, to put it somewhat mildly, two years ago, to manage the plains belonging to my village, doing it for a short period of time, as I said before. Then when a most experienced man appeared, I mean Heron son of Kopres, he filled the office of horiodeiktes and administered it . . . (8 lines too damaged to be translated) . . . since I was not nominated through a report, but the nomination was made through a list of . . ., what is not allowed, I ask your honor to require through your order to the strategos, a most estimable man, who is bound to carry out your judgment, that there shall be no nonsense on the pretext of the horiodeiktia and that I may be aided by you. Farewell.
(2nd hand) I, Aurelius Heron, submitted this petition.
(3rd hand) Year 3, Pachon 1. Apply to the strategos who will administer justice. Column 50, volume 3.
