Day by day register of abstracts of the contracts recorded at the record-office (grapheion) of Tebtynis during the four last months of the 2nd year of the Emperor Claudius. - Col. IV, abstract 9 records an agreement to provide lodging in place of paying interest on a loan, registered on May 23, 42 A.D. (see also Verso, col. III, 15)

Klesis, son of Psosneus, a Persian of the epigone, about 65 years old, with a scar on the upper lip on the right side, and his wife Arsinoe, daughter of Pyrrhos, a Persian woman, about 50 years old, with a scar on the right calf, with her husband Klesis as her guardian, being mutual securities for recovery, acknowledge to Papos, son of Didymos, about 29 years old, with a scar on the lower lip on the left side, that they have received from him 40 silver drachmai and instead of the interest thereon will furnish lodging, and the parties acknowledging the debt have permitted(?) the asses of Papos to stable in the courtyard belonging to Klesis in his house <or: in the courtyard of the house belonging to Klesis in the village Tebtynis>, and the creditor shall use all the equipment in the courtyard, for 2 years from the aforesaid time, and the debtors and their heirs will guarantee the lodging.
Signatory for the debtors: Eutychos, son of Eutychos, about 41 years old, with a scar on the right calf.
