BONE HANDLED IRON KNIVES: A plain bone handled iron carving knife and an ornamentally carved bone handled knife. Approximate age is from 1650 to 1670. Location- Marsh Site, East Bloomfield, New York. Dimensions of the top knife are 21 cm by 2 cm. and the dimensions of the bottom knife are 18 cm. by 1.5 cm.

Nazca "estolica" made out of hard wood having on one extreme a copper lance tied with vicuna wool threads and in the handle some figures engraved in bone. It is 53 cm long. They are archaeological pieces.

The wooden hilt is missing, as is the engraved shell ornamentation originally attached to both ends of the wooden sheath. The sheath is cracked open along one edge, and a small portion of the hilt end is broken off.

Garden Knife. Long, narrow, S-shaped metal (iron?) blade set on long wooden handle.
Handle was shortened to transport it from Madagascar to the UMMA.
Collected by H. T. Wright in November 2003, during a National Geographic trip to Madagascar. Notes from H. Wright:
"Obtained by exchange for a new Betsileo knife purchased for 15,000 Malagasy francs ($3.98) with a young man who had inherited the knife and did not know its value or its origin.
