Description
Santa Rosa Island, Calif. Cemetery 131.2B at Skull Gulch Village. Three cemeteries known from this village. This is the latest one in which reburial is practiced and perishable objects, (seeds, wood, seagrass) are preserved, radiocarbon date 1,860 years. Santa Barbara Museum of Natural History

Description
Santa Rosa Island, Calif. Survey Point, showing entire Wisconsin sediments caged by Dune Dweller sand dunes. Evidence of man is found from the lowest to the highest point where the jeep is. At the midway point on the cliff is the radiocarbon date of 29,650 years on burned mammoth bone. At the lower 26 feet above water, a date of more than 37,000 years was received. Approximately 12 ft down from the light colored sand, a date of 12,000 years. Fires

Santa Rosa Island, Calif. Survey Point. Kitchen midden composed of red abalone shell midden H, rufescens, Called a kitchen midden in spite of some disagreement on the use of the word "midden" at the conference. Shells are from eight to twelve feet deep under terrestrial water-laid clay. Radiocarbon date 6,800 years. Santa Barbara Museum of Natural History

Material not dated, but believed to be later than the Red Head phase--however, Gypsum Cave type points are found here. Burial habit different than that of Red Heads, in that bodies are not sitting up, and no red paint used. Instead, the body cavity has been filled with black material giving rise to the phase term.
