- "Griffin's Head": The original is of gold, from Iran, Achaemenid Period, about 5th century B.C. The original bracteate in the form of a horned animal's head came form the site of Hamadau in Iran. These objects were used by the Persians as appliques to clothing, as can be seen by the tiny loops at the tip of each horn and in the left feathers.
