- Mahakala mGon-po, the tutelary lamaist deity, is one of the "eight terrible ones". He is depicted standing on the Brahman god Ganesa, the elephant-headed, who is prostrate on a lotus throne. He holds the knife, the cup, the drum, the lasso, the trident, and the string of skulls in his six hands. At the top center is Vajradhara (Adi-Buddha).
