Description
Santa Rosa Island, Calif. Cemetery of Dune Dwellers at Canada Verde. (Black Bottom phase). Material not dated, but believed to be later than the Red Head phase--however, Gypsum Cave type points are found here. Burial habit different than that of Red Heads, in that bodies are not sitting up, and no red paint used. Instead, the body cavity has been filled with black material giving rise to the phase term.
