MARIE FRANK B. LELAND, DETROIT lharPh nf irfyflts Grani Rapids,9 MIC.,APrII 3,Y9QQ._ __igo My dear Doctor Angell: I have your letter of first instant, returning the copy of Dr. Hill's letter sent me by Dr. Andrew D. White. I construe the letter as a practical refusal to consider the acceptance of the presidency of Michigan University. I note tie statement in your letter that the legislative committee has approved the anatomical bill with the qualifications suggested by the Attorney General 's office, and your apprehension that if passed in th at form its usetulness would be impaired, if not nullified. I go to Cincinnati tomorrow evening, and shall be there at least al1 of next week. I have no doubt that you have called Dr. Sawyer's attenton to the subject, and it would seem quite likely that he is otherwise acquainted with the situation. I have nevertheless advised him of your letter, and of my inability to give the subject attention. Permit me to ascure you of my cordial sympathy with you in the death of your brother. With kindest regards, I. am, Sinc erely yours, Hon. James R. Angell, Ann Arbor, Michigan.
