~HARVARD UNIVERSITY CAMBRIDGE October 22, 1908 Dear Presicent Angela: After consultation with President Eliot I beg to submit suggestions for a pr rogramme for the meeting of The Association of American Universities, to be held at Corniel University, January 7-8, 1909. I await our directions in regard to it. It seems to be customary to hold four sessiens, the first three on the mn:'ning, afternoon and evening of the first dayr and the fourth on the morning of the second day. After the meeting of the Executive Comrittee, which takes place at nine o'clock on the first day, the first session might be occupied by the reports of the Special Committee appointed to continue the investigation of the matters involved in the report of the Comittee on Aim and Scope (see top -page 11, last report), and the special Committee on Nomenclature (see bottom page 1). Each of the three other sessions micrht be occupied by a paper, and discussion thereon, for it seers t o have been usual to have at least three papers at the Conference. I send herewith a list of topics for papers, which have been suggested to me in response to circUlar letters sent out a few weeks ago. One of the papers seems to have been already determined on, because the Universitu of Calif ornia was request cxd at the last Conference to prepare a paper on The Relation of Undergraduate Work to Professional hork, in Respect to the Possibility of Saving Time in Secondary Education (see bottom page 12).
