Lincoln's New Salem, by Benjamin P. Thomas, first published
by the Association nearly ten years ago, will soon be back in print
after having been unavailable for several months. The price, in
spite of increased production costs, will be one dollar per copy,
postpaid. This is the second time that this book has been reprinted.
The Lincoln Bibliography which has been in preparation by
the Illinois State Historical Library for several years has been
in the hands of the printer since the first of the year. It is expected
that manufacture will be completed and the book placed on sale
during the summer. It will be published in two volumes, and will
be sold for $5.00 the set, postpaid. Because of help shortages,
the Library is unable to take advance orders.
The bibliography contains all Fish and Oakleaf items except
those excluded by strict adherence to the definition which Jay
Monaghan, the compiler, adopted. Also included are several
hundred titles not found by earlier bibliographers or published
since their works appeared. Each item is described bibliographically and identified as to type and content if those are not apparent from its title.
One recent publication which collectors are going to have
trouble acquiring is the Armed Forces Edition of The Selected
Writings of Abraham Lincoln. Armed Services Editions, Inc., is
a non-profit organization sponsored by the Council of Books in
Wartime. Its publications are distributed by the Army Library
Service, Army Service Forces, for the Army and by the Bureau of
Naval Personnel for the Navy. All are inexpensively printed,
