Professor Robert B. Hall was appointed, on nomination of the
General Committee of the Division of the Social Sciences, to succeed
Professor Carl E. Guthe as Chairman of the Division of the Social
Sciences for the three University years 1938-1941 (R.P. 1932-1936,
p. 559).
On nomination of the Board of Directors of the University Musical
Society, Roscoe O. Bonisteel of Ann Arbor was elected a member
of the Board of Directors of the University Musical Society to fill
out the unexpired term of the late Levi D. Wines, who died August 6,
1938. Mr. Bonisteel's term of office will extend to February, 1941
(p. 493).
The Board made the following promotions and salary adjustments,
all as recommended by the Faculty Personnel Committee (p. 700).
No additions to the budget are involved:

To meet a situation created by the resignation of Dr. John M.
Dorsey as Associate Professor of Psychiatry (p. 689), Dr. David A.
Boyd, Instructor in Psychiatry, was appointed to assume the duties
which Dr. Dorsey has been discharging, without change in title, but
with an increase in salary at the rate of $250, twelve-month basis, to
date from November 1, 1938. This raises Dr. Boyd's total salary rate
to $2,750. No increase in the budget is necessary since funds are
already available.
Leaves of absence were voted as follows:
