Here is one of the tombstones for the unknown Turkish soldiers who perished defending the Dardanelles. An extremely common name, Mehmet is used to refer to the unknown soldiers. Each tombstone represents a major city that lost young men in the battle. This tomb in particular represents the city of Izmir.
