About the construction

Description: This gable front Folk Victorian house has a front porch which wraps around to the east facade and ends at a one story addition. The porch has tooled wooden supports and decorative trim which were probably added at a later date. The one-and-one-half story garage is attached to the house. Aluminum siding covers the first level and compostion shingle covers the second level. Asymmetrical fenestration on front facade.
Date Of Construction: ca.1897
Context: This gable front Folk Victorian house is an example of a common house type during the 1870-1910 period. The vernacular Folk House of an earlier period became adorned with gingerbread, tooled spindles, and other decorative trim due to the availability of machinery and building supplies made possible by the railroads. Because this house has been remodeled, it is difficult to assertain what original decorative trim it may have had.
