About the construction

Description: This gable front and wing Folk Victorian house has an enclosed front porch with cantalevered windows.
Date Of Construction: ca.1919
Context: This gable front and wing house was a common subtype of the Folk Victorian house which was built from about 1870-1910. Saline has several examples of this style, several on East and West McKay. A garage and retaining wall were added in 1951, two rooms were remodeled in 1952, and the front remodeled in 1955. Because of the remodeling, it is difficult to know whether or not there was decorative trim at one time. According to the construction date given in the assessor's file, it was built during a transitional time period, and may not have had any embellishments. The Cammet family have occupied this house since approximately 1920.
