About the construction

Description: Two story vernacular frame Folk House with aluminum siding built ca.1834.The gable end faces Lewis and has a center entrance with open porch. The south facade has two bay windows on the ground floor, and a small window flanked by larger windows with partial leaded glass on either side. There is a one story wing on the back.
Date Of Construction: ca.1834
Context: Owners of the house in 1983, Ted and Dorothy Stimpson have a document signed by President John Quincy Adams proving that the land was once owned by Orange Risdon, Saline's founder. Mr. Stimpson"s grandfather Gordon passed along a story that it was believed that Mr. Risdon lived here until his wife came here from New York. The livery barn now located near the depot at 402 N. Ann Arbor St. was once on this property.
