About the construction

Description: This frame Queen Anne-Colonial Revival style house has a finial crowned hipped roof with lower cross gables clad in fish scale shingles. A variety of window types fenestrate the house, including semi-circular openings in the gables, leaded glass on the front facade, and bay and oriel windows on the east facade. The porch, with spindlework, wraps around to the west facade and is supported by classical columns on a raised molded cement base. A two-story partially covered stairway attaches to the rear. The house sits on a molded cement foundation and has a two car detached garage.

Architect/Builder: Elwood Rogers
Context: This transitional Queen Anne-Colonial Revival house exhibits typical detailing of the style such a asymmetrical roof, fish scale shingles,and wrap around porch with spindlework. It also exhibits the classic columns and bay windows seen in the free classic subtype. Walter Morden, a physician, and his wife Mary were the original owners. Mr.and Mrs. Chadwick purchased the house from Mary Morden and have occupied it since.
