About the construction

Description: This two story end gable Greek Revival house sits on a stone foundation. Frieze band windows and shed roof entry porch with square supports on a raised base adorn the front facade. There is an early twentieth century one- and one-half story rear addition which has shed dormers on the south side of the roof. The sides are covered with aluminum. Detached garage.
Date Of Construction: ca. 1872
Context: This Greek Revival house was built ca.1872 and remodeled in 1951. A barn on the property was used as a meeting place for a Black Protestant Church in the 1870s. Little history is found until the early twentieth century when Leon Tower, a mail carrier, and his family occupied the house. After that it was occupied by two carpenters; James Miller in 1926 and Carl Weidman by 1941.
