- Context
- Despite changes to the exterior, the house retains most of its original character, and is an exceptional example of Italianate architecture. The 1874 Atlas shows that a belvedere has been removed from the roof and that the porch was originally wider. Located on 4.37 acres. Following the original owner and farmer, Joseph Annin, the house was occupied by Alfred Miller (1867) and Harvey Bennett (1873) both of whom served in village offices. Mr. Miller owned the Saline Exchange (Hotel), and was the brother of Henry Miller, and the son of pioneer settler Leonard Miller. Fourth owner, John Hull, had a number of commercial postions in Saline. The house is said to have been part of the Underground Railroad under the Hulls'. The Wesley Peoples family owned the house from 1918-1990. The house is on the National Register.
