About the construction

Description: Two story, Queen Anne style house with free classic detailing. Hipped roof with lower crossed gables. Wrap around porch with round support columns on low stone piers, and wood balustrade. Hipped roof dormer with fan-shaped window. Fishscale shingles in gables. One story bay on east facade. Wood balustrade on bay window roof. Large windows in south (front) facade and east bay; leaded glass in upper quarter and plain glass below. Small entry porch on east rear with detailing similar to front porch. Clapboard siding. Molded concrete block foundation. Livery barn at rear.
Date Of Construction: 1910-12
Context: Frank Buck bought the lot in 1909, and probably built the house. Catherine Blaess lived in the house 1914-1920. Catherine's daughter, Emma, lived in the house in 1926, according to the 1926 city directory. The current owner, Rob Steward, states that Carl and Emma Smith bought the house in 1922. The Smith's lived in the house until at least 1947. This house is listed on the National Register.
