About the construction

Description: One story, front gabled, Craftsman style house. Three front facing gabtes, with the foremost gable extending over the partial width porch. Stocky supports continue to floor level without break. Solid wood balustrade. Porch is glass enclosed. Vertical boards in peak of porch gabte. Massive brick chimney on front (north) facade. Rectangular bays on east and west facades with gabte above. Wide overhanging eaves with triangular knee bracing. Windows are multipaned over one (eight lights over one, or four lights over one). Concrete block foundation. Diamond shaped shingle roof. Two car garage at rear.
Date Of Construction: 1927
Context: Possible Kit House. Similar to Aladdin's "Winthrop" (1918) and Radford's 1915 bungalow. Built by Edward and Doris Henne in 1927. After his death, Doris remained in the house until 1947. In 1950, Emma Henne owned the house. In 1953, it was owned by Leon Vidder. Edward Henne was the manager of Saline Telephone Co. from about 1905-1925. Then he started his own radio business representing the following companies: Stromberg-Carlson, Grebe, Spartan, and Crosley. Aluminum siding in 1970.
