Context
Martin and Jacob (216) both built houses on family property. An older house was probably torn down. There are several houses visible on the 1872 Bird's Eye View map which are in the location of 216-218. Martin Fuoss owned a grocery store for twenty three years. Later, he became vice-president and director of Citizens' Bank. The house was designed by his wife, Edith, and incorporated the detailing of several styles. The windows, bays, and spindlework are carryovers from the Queen Anne period. Colonial Revival detailing, such as Ionic columns, and dentile molding, reflect a new and growing style. The wide eaves and foursquare shape reflects the influence of the Prairie/Craftsman styles. The house was sold in 1941 to Dr. Harold and Delores Miller; 1944, Edward and Lydia Alber; 1959- 1990, Ray Rosander followed by his son, Bruce; 1990, David and Suzanne Wolf; 1991, Joseph Munz.
