About the construction

Description: Two story, cross gabled, vernacular, Queen Anne style house. Small porch with wrought iron balustrade and supports. Large single pane windows on projecting gable. Two story bay on north facade. Aluminum siding. Stone foundation. Two story, gambrel roof barn at rear.
Date Of Construction: 1892
Context: George and Agnes Barr built the house in 1892, when George was 28 years old. They lived there until about 1916, when they moved to George's father's house (then 227, now 275 S. Ann Arbor). George Martin owned the house from 1945 to 1965. George's daughter, married Merritt Martin, and it is probably a member of this family who owned the house after George Barr. Doug Frey owned the house in 1987. Remodeled into apartments in 1954. Aluminum sided in 1965.
