About the construction

Description: Two and a half story, gable front, Folk House. Gables in north and south roof. Wood shingles and small square windows in the gable peaks. Windows are one light over one. Shed roof porch with wood supports and railings. Stone foundation. Modern siding.
Date Of Construction: 1893-99
Context: According to the Sanborn maps, the house was built between 1893 and 1899, which is reflected in the low tax valuation for 1892. Mrs. A. Davidson owned the property and probably built the house. She is not listed in the city directories. A. M. Hunt apparently owned the house around 1915, according to a 1915 atlas. Charles Carven was the owner by 1931, and his daughter, Bessie Collins owned it after his death in 1934. Bessie's son, Max Collins was the next owner. Charles Carvin also owned 204 S. Ann Arbor, and several other properties in Saline.The house was converted to two family in 1947; back to a one family in 1961; and back again to two family in 1985. Porch altered ca. 1988.
