- Context
- A fine example of Stick style architecture. It is also the only Stick style house in Saline. This land was settled by Dr. Watson in the 1860's. He lived in the original farm house directly north of the current house. Dr. Watson's daughter married Dr. Lamkins, and they inherited the property when Dr. Watson died. Dr. and Mrs. Lamkins built their house in the early 1880's. They had no children, and when they died the Millers rented the property and farmed the land (1899-1910). Fred April bought the house and 190 acres in 1910. He sold it to Will and Rilla Hart in 1920. The Harts farmed the land until Rilla died and Will moved into town. In 1940, Dr. Steiner and his wife bought the property and farmed it after retiring. In 1963, Dr. Steiner sold the property to MEHA, (Michigan Educational Housing Association), who sold it to the Fischers in 1975. This house is listed on the National Register.
