Untitled

This abstracted drawing in black ink contains a series of lines and shapes that evoke a sense of motion from the upper right to the lower left of the composition. Long parallel lines on a diagonal from the top right to bottom left reinforce this sense of movement. Stiff Box 12
Artist
Lucas Samaras
Physical Description
Made of thick steel, this sculpture has two very distinct halves. One on side, the thick sheet of steel gracefully curves around and back on itself, making loops and rounded edges. On the reverse, the steel is angular, jagged, and sharp, jutting into the spaces in the sculpture's interior and the space around the whole. At the very center of the piece, along the implied dividing line between the two sides, is a relatively small box.

Title
Tommy's Pond
Artist
Gabor Peterdi
Physical Description
This print is constructed of five horizontal bands of color with a semicircular shape at the top center. The bottom-most band depicts tightly clustered organic shapes with dark borders. The next band has a short, thick, curving line in the center, and a couple other dark organic lines above it. The third and middle band has some hatching and some circular shapes. The fourth band, or the second band from the top, is made up of horizontal lines, with many hatched vertical lines over top of them, reminiscent of grass. The top most band depicts a cellular-like structure, consisting of a diamond pattern. The semicircular shape at the top cuts through the top band, and juts partially into the band underneath it. The semicircle has an organic, circular line formation in the center.
