A broad set of steps leading up to a tree-lined terrace are the main features of this work. Figures on the terrace and a sculpture of putti supporting an urn or pot are visible at the top of the stairs; in the left foreground, a woman and little girl are climbing the stairs.
In the lower left corner, two women are seen seated out of doors conversing in a park-like setting. In the middle distance is a large sculpture on a raised pedestal. Grouped around the sculpture are other small gatherings of people in conversation. Behind the figures and sculpture is the loose indication of trees.

A woman draped in diaphanous drapery sits on a couch facing the viewer. The arm of the couch is visible at the left of the image and the woman glances down towards her knees. To the right is a flower-like form that is the artist's "butterfly" signature.
A female nude reclines on a couch, leaning towards the left, face looking down. Her head is supported by her right hand; her left hand, holding up drapery behind her, is grasping the back of the couch. Her right leg dangles over the edge of the couch while the left leg rests on the cushion.

Viewed from an elevated vantage point, a curved roadway at the lower left meets a bridge that crosses a river; in hte far distance are indications of buildings along the far bank. On both the roadway and bridge can be seen horse-drawn carriages and conveyances.
A sweeping panorama of a city is visible from an elevated vantage point. Bridges cross a river and boats are evident. The river occupies the right side of the composition and the curving near bank of the river dominates the left side of the work. The cityscape includes many buildings, culimnating in one large dome in the distance. There is evidence that a window ledge exists along the bottom of the image and in the distance there are blustery clouds, indicating a leaden wintery sky.
A nude woman stands in a contrapposto stance with weight on one leg facing the viewer. She looks down to the left, she has her hair tied under a kerchief of scarf; she holds drapery in her hands that hangs behind her below her hips.
A group of people are seen on the balcony of a building; a number of the women hold parasols against the bright light. On the floor above are two windows with balconies; people can also be observed looking downward. Above these windows are indications of the roofline and chimneys. Below the balcony are pilasters or brackets indicating architectural detail of the ground floor.

A dark horizontal opening shows three men working and talking. Above is an arched recess, at the top of which is an open window with a plant. Below the large horizontal opening, a chicken stands in the street just below.
