L'Alliance de la Poésie et de la Musique (The Alliance of Poetry and Music)
Artist
Charles Joseph Natoire
Physical Description
Two women clad in flowing robes sit beneath a curved colonnade at the center of this delicately painted scene. The woman on the left, wearing a blue mantle, holds a lyre in her right hand and leans toward her companion, who holds open a musical score on her lap to which she points with her right hand. Books are piled on the steps next to the woman on the left and a putto sits next to her with a scroll unrolled across his lap. A second putto stands next to the other seated woman and plays a viol. A winged putto hovers over the heads of the two women, holding a small trumpet in his left hand and a laurel crown in his right, which he is about to place on the head of the woman with the lyre. Two bust-length portraits of men in oval frames wreathed with laurel hang from the columns in the background.

The Lord's Prayer, sheet 4 - Thy Kingdom Come, Thy Will Be Done on Earth, as It Is in Heaven (Das Vaterunser - Dein Reich komme, Dein Wille geschehe, Wie im Himmel, also auch auf Erden)
Artist
Max Pechstein
Physical Description
Three male figures dressed in dark clothing, with their backs to the viewer, stand on a shore facing the water as shafts of light break through dark clouds overhead. The figure at the viewer's left raises his hands in exultation. The man in the center stands with head tilted back; the figure at the viewer's righ looks down, as if at his hands. The words of the Lord's Prayer are presented in three lines of text, at the top, middle, and bottom of the composition.

Tureen with floral patterns and glass knob
Artist
Artist Unknown, France
Physical Description
This ovoid tureen stands on four curved, leaf-like feet that sprout upward and join together to form a pair of handles at either end of the vessel. The body of the tureen, composed of gentle undulating curves, is decorated with bright red and yellow flowers and leaves painted with overglaze enamel. A scallion, modeled in relief, rests bundled together with sprigs of parsley on top of the lid, introducing a playful trompe-l'oeil element. An onion forms the knob on the top of the lid.
