As Long as I Don't Have to Get Up Before 11:00
Artist
Mark Kostabi
Physical Description
Ink drawing on paper. Black wash ground, with two figures drawn in opaque black ink. A comic figure who is shirtless and in boxers, with his beer belly hanging out, and whose pointy rimmed hat is reminiscent of the scarecrow in the Wizard of Oz, dances at the center of an ominous scene. His right leg has been kicked through a television set that he holds with his right hand. Scissors fall from his left hand towards what looks like a two-slot toaster. A black, horned beast lurks in the background, holding a phone overhead that has two earpieces, but no cradle. The scene is possibly set in a graveyard; the edifice silhouetting behind the scarecrow figure is shaped like a headstone.

Physical Description
High-gloss abstract expressionist painting in muted palette (dusty blue and green, gray, etc.). Pencil marks in left corner. Year (1982) signed in bottom right corner. Clough’s unique way of applying paint to the canvas results in a highly articulated and densely textured surface. “In place of the brush and other typical painter's tools, Clough uses an instrument he calls the ‘Big Finger,’ a large balloon-like contraption that he invented to spread poured house enamel on masonite into broad gestural constellations.” (Max Henry, “charles clough,” http://www.artnet.com/magazine_pre2000/reviews/henry/henry2-5-99.asp)

Continuous
Artist
Edda Renouf
Physical Description
Several thin coats of blue-gray acrylic paint have been applied to primed linen canvas whose weave was altered by removing threads at more or less regular intervals. She then carefully sanded down the paint to highlight the new texture and make “visible the life within the linen material.” (artist’s statement (2009), http://www.eddarenouf.com/Statement.html)
