Kabuki actor Ichikawa Ebizo IX tucks his head and pulls his lips back in a grimace. He wears an ornate kimono and carries a sword.
Subject Matter
Ichikawa Ebizo IX is from a long lineage of kabuki actors, holding the name of Ichikawa Ebizo from 1940-1962, after which he takes on the name Ichikawa Danjuro XI.
Artist Ota Masamitsu was a Shin Hango artist also known as Ota Gako who was involved with kabuki prints and theater.
