- Inscribed in pencil on upper right: the two moldings are entirely gilded and what I specially noticed was the way the carving was seperated (sic) from the ground, not only being undercut deeply but as a rule entirely cut away from the shell proper. effect of light and shade produced is stunning In pencil, l.l.: this panel is in glazed terra cotta / white and blue as most of lucca / della robbia's are ; ground of carving / 7/8" back of face of/ moulding
