Stetler, citizen of Philadelphia, sentenced to five years' imprisonment on charges of wilful neglect of duty as a contractor furnishing coffee to the government. Holt had recommended enforcement of sentence in order to make an example of Stetler, and LINCOLN had approved the sentence on November 20, 1863. No record of LINCOLN's further action has been found.
