 D, DNA WR RG 107, Presidential Telegrams, I, 252. The telegram is in John Hay's autograph, ``A. LINCOLN'' appearing to have been signed by Hay also. The telegraph clerk endorsed ``sent 215.'' Colonel William B. Stokes commanded the Fifth Tennessee Cavalry. No further reference to these cases has been found.
