[2]   The U.S. District Court cases referred to involved lands entered along the right-of-way of the Ohio and Illinois Railroad by Irwin Camp of Erie, Pennsylvania, the contractor who built the Illinois division of the road. James L. D. Morrison had acted as agent for Camp and his associates in entering the lands (Camp to Lincoln, November 2, 1859, DLC-RTL).
