Kercheval, famed in the annals of early Chicago as an eccentric but impartial justice of the peace; John H. Kinzie, businessman and financier who was one of the sons of the pioneer trader of Chicago, John Kinzie; Walter L. Newberry, merchant, banker, and philanthropist who founded the Newberry Library.
