This note, postmarked Springfield, June 13, is written on the back of Alexander's letter of June 6, 1854, relative to a lot in Clinton, Illinois, which had been sold for taxes and which Alexander wished to recover. General Milton K. Alexander was a prominent citizen of Paris, Illinois, who had commanded the Second Brigade of Volunteers in the Black Hawk War.
